Political & Religion Forums

This blog will be my record of and evaluation of various political and religious blogs and forums. Forums that I've looked at will be linked to under "links", quite obviously, and I encourage everyone to check them out. Political & Religious Forums are an excellent way to contribute to societies ongoing cultural dialogue.

Spotlight On New & Up-Coming Forums

National Polemic is different than your typical Political Forum in that its focus is on American Culture. While there are areas for the discussion of Politics, Religion, Philosophy, and Science, the first section is entirely dedicated to American Life, Culture, and Values.

While this Forum still appears to be in its early stages of development, Burning Giraffe (National Polemic Administrator) has posted a wide variety of topics ready to be discussed. These topics include: The America You Imagine, Consideration of our Spouses, What Women Want, Sex and the City, Who Has Changed America, and Civic Duty.

One of the benefits of registering to a new Forum is that the first several members have incredible influence over the direction the forum takes. Forum Administrators are usually more than willing to take any suggestions form new members in order to establish a loyal member base.

The Beauty of Online Forums & Blogs

Back in the days of WWIV, before the Light of Civilization birthed the Internet, we didn't have Forums or Blogs. What we had were BBS's. Bulletin Board Services were incredibly interactive, even while connecting on 2400, 6400, and 9200 baud modems. Each BBS could network with hundreds of other services, sharing posts, files, and all kinds of information.

Today, the world is different, but people are not. They are still looking to gather together to share and challenge ideas. Websites like Digg.com offer people the opportunity to share news articles and promote their own small corner of the World Wide Web. Myspace and Facebook revolutionized social networking.

But what really interests me are those forums discussing politics, philosophy, religion, culture, psychology, and economics. That's where the cultural dialogue is taking place, free of the corporate media, free of interference.
